December 1st thru 31st, 2006 the fiveponinfive series will be showing simultaneously at the Around the Coyote Gallery in Wicker Park, Unicorn Cafe in Evanston and The Grind in Lincoln Square.

Chicago Design Factory is the collaborative practice of Chicago based artists Brent Houston and Rachel Perrine. The Factory operates under the belief that the making of art and the purchasing of art -—choosing an object that brings meaning to everyday life—is one of the most powerful ways that people gain and refine an understanding
of self.

The fivepointfive series is an ongoing body of work begun in 2005, the series consists of individual paintings that measure 5.5” x 5.5” square. Painted in both oil (Brent)
and acrylic (Rachel) the subject matter is varied -- from everyday objects such as staplers and filing cabinets to the constellations above.
Each piece stands on its own, but when combined in a group of two or more, the
art buyer -- in selecting pieces that together tell their own story -- create a new and highly personal piece of artwork.
